Not only does this compeititon serve as THE BEST strength event exclusively for women in Baltimore, it also serves as a fundraiser for young adults with colon cancer. ALL proceeds go directly to The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
We've been participating in this event since 2013. Last year we had a colon cancer survivor on the team, and this year we do as well. That makes this fundraiser THAT much more meaningful for us since we've seen people close to us survive through this terrible thing.
We'd also like to honor the memory of those who lost their lives to colon cancer. Please consider helping us toward our goal this year!
The 2018 Charm City Strongwoman Contest
Sunday, September 16, 2018
9am - 4pm
4015 Foster Avenue
Baltimore, MD 21224
(On Haven Street between Fait and Foster in front of the new gym!)
The 2018 Charm City Strongwoman is a Memorial Contest for Charlotte Bohn, who died on February 11, 2015 after a 3 1/2 year battle with colon cancer. She was an inspiration and was as strong as she was beautiful. Proceeds from the contest benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, an organization that Charlotte and her family received support from during treatment, and continue to support.
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
All proceeds will go directly towards Ulman House, our "home away from home" for young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer.
Ulman House, located in East Baltimore, will create a community that fosters peer and social support, decreases financial and other burdens, and encourages hope and healing. Patients and their caregivers will be able to stay in one of nine private suites while enjoying group and individual programming in the house including art therapy, physical exercise, meditation, home cooked meals, Where YA Meet support groups, and an incredible music room. There will also be opportunities to speak with Ulman’s patient navigators and social workers from Baltimore area hospitals.
