On September 16th I’ll be at it again, competing in the seventh annual Charm City Strongwoman Contest! This event benefits the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults as they work hard to complete Ulman House, a home away from home for young adult cancer patients and their caregivers, set to open in East Baltimore this October. Last year we raised over $18,000 for patient support and treatment, and this year we want to do even better!

This contest is hosted every year by Fivex3 Training, a strength and conditioning gym I joined less than 2 years ago. Since I started training at Fivex3,

Emily, the gym’s owner and my coach, started the contest after her sister Charlotte was diagnosed with colon cancer. All proceeds will go to the Ulman Fund, an organization that provides those battling cancer with their own incredible support system via education, resources, one-on-one assistance, scholarships, meetups, athletic programs, and now Ulman House.

Even after her passing, Charlotte's strength and grace continue to inspire. Through this fundraising event, we'll be giving back to an organization that gave so much to Charlotte, Emily, and their families, and we’ll be celebrating strong women everywhere by throwing some heavy stuff around!

Donate if you can, or share this link with others! Or come cheer for us in September! Or do all three!

The 2018 Charm City Strongwoman is a Memorial Contest for Charlotte Bohn, who died on February 11, 2015 after a 3 1/2 year battle with colon cancer. She was an inspiration and was as strong as she was beautiful.  Proceeds from the contest benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, an organization that Charlotte and her family received support from during treatment, and continue to support.

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:

All proceeds will go directly towards Ulman House, our "home away from home" for young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer.

Ulman House, located in East Baltimore, will create a community that fosters peer and social support, decreases financial and other burdens, and encourages hope and healing. Patients and their caregivers will be able to stay in one of nine private suites while enjoying group and individual programming in the house including art therapy, physical exercise, meditation, home cooked meals, Where YA Meet support groups, and an incredible music room. There will also be opportunities to speak with Ulman’s patient navigators and social workers from Baltimore area hospitals.
