Wow! Hard to believe this is real.
Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (Ulman Foundation) has been a part of my life (and my heart and soul) and my passion for many years. I have raced for Team Fight, been a sherpa and coach for our Cancer to 5K Program, coordinated the swim start and finish line for our races, hosted Irongirl Training Program transition clinics, been to almost every Screw Cancer, Brew Hope and Blue Jean Ball, supported our 4K for Cancer program every year including having a son and daughter participate, and have served on the Board of Directors for the past few years. I've done alot. But I have not participated in our Key To Keys experience. Until now....
I am SO incredibly excited, and honored to be a part of this amazing group, to represent Ulman Foundation, and to make a difference for our young adult cancer community.
I will pedal every day as we make our way from the Key Bridge to Key West and will post every day to share our journey and the impact we are make along the way. I hope you will join me on this journey and follow me along the way...I know you will be touched by the stories shared and the amazing experiences that will happen.
What is my Why? The first time I was touched by cancer, I was in high school and my best friend's mom, Betty was diagnosed with cancer. What? Really? Not sure what this means? I learned about cancer the hard way. We lost her way too soon and that was awful. There was no real help, no place or group to support. It just was. Its been many years since then, and I have more friends than I can count on TWO hands that have been affected by cancer. Really? Yes. So we fight. We support. We help. We race. We ride. We do whatever we can to volunteer, to raise funds to support our programs.
Most of all, we make a difference. Cancer changes lives, so do we.

CHALLENGE:
Over 72,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer every year. Young adults (ages 15-39) face a variety of unique challenges with a cancer diagnosis including fertility preservation, social isolation, lack of insurance, delayed diagnosis, and more.
SOLUTION:
Ulman Foundation changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, Ulman is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
Ulman House - This year Ulman will open a “home away from home” to provide free housing for young adult cancer patients, and their caregivers, in East Baltimore.
