Happy to announce that I'll be participating once again in the Key to Keys Experience where I'll joing the Ulman Cancer Fund on a bike ride from Baltimore to Key West Florida. This was a life changing event for me and gave me a chance to give back to a wonderful organization that has helped me in numerous ways. With the news that I'll be starting chemo again shortly much like last year of cycling all the way to Key West gave me motivation to keep pushing myself while going through some grueling treatment. UCF has made a tremendous impact on my life as well as many other young adults facing cancer. They truly are an amazing organization that not only talks the talk but walks the walk. They'll drop everything to be there for any young adult facing cancer as they have done for me over the years.
For those that don't know my story, I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in 2014. Since then I have seperated from my fiance, had another girlfriend commit suicide and have seen many friends that were fellow patients slowly lose there fight with cancer. I've had to accept that due to my cancer I would have to give up my dream job of being an officer in the United States Army. But after every set back I always had UCF there to have my back and let me know that I wasn't alone. They've also given me a sense of purpose and have given me oppurtunities to give back and stay involved. Many seem amazed at my ability to constantly stay positive through my cancer journey and stay as physically active as I have been. Well I wouldn't be able to do that without the backing of the UCF. So if you'd like to support me and never know how you can, consider donating to my fundraising for this event. It's truly the best way you could support me as it both gives me a reason to keep pushing my limits as I'm about to start my 3rd round of chemo and to give back to an organization that has helped me and so many others with there fight against this horrible disease so many suffer from.
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
UCF House - a “home away from home” to provide free housing for young adult cancer patients, and their caregivers, in East Baltimore.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
Your donation will help make these programs and our mission possible!
