Since I participated in 4K for Cancer back in 2015, I decided I wanted to continue supporting Ulman and joined their BOYAA program and now have joined Fight Club as well. In the last three years, I have continuously gained more appreciation for how much UCF helps young adults who are fighting cancer, or who have fought it in the past and I couldn't be happier to be racing to help support Ulman and their programs again. On June 23rd, I will be racing in America's Toughest Mudder East, which is an 8-hour race through the middle of the night with the goal of completing as many laps on the 5-mile obstacle course as possible. With the goal of completing at least 30 miles, I am hoping to dedicate each mile of the race to someone who's life has been changed by a cancer diagnosis, much like I did during my dedication days on 4K for Cancer. It is my hope that by dedicating these miles to different people, I will be able to show my support for them as well as draw support from them when I know I will need it during the race. Everyone knows someone else who has been diagnosed with cancer and it is more than clear how difficult fighting cancer can be. While I can't begin to imagine what it takes to make it through those tough times, I hope that my running in this race can be some form of inspiration for someone who needs it.
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer expereience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
Your donation will help make these programs and our mission possible!
