Hi everyone. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I will be running the Baltimore Half Marathon on October 20, 2018. I'm not sure that I'm ready because I haven't run more than 10 miles at the same time since before I had Lyra (more than 5 years since running a half marathon, and I haven't run a full marathon in a decade). So this is a big challenge for me (see photo on this page showing me running a 10k earlier this year). I'm doing this, and it may be painful, but I'm determined to show my support for an incredible organization. UCF is doing great things, and every penny raised helps the organization continue to change lives. 2018 has been a particularly remarkable year for UCF. The Ulman House is about to open and will provide cancer patients and their families a free place to live/work/relax/heal while receiving treatment in Baltimore (https://ulmanfund.org/ulmanhouse/). Not only that, but earlier this year, UCF led the way in helping pass legislation requiring insurance carriers to cover fertility preservation for young adults undergoing cancer treatment (https://ulmanfund.org/governor-hogan-signs-legislation-making-fertility-preservation-affordable-for-young-adult-cancer-patients/). The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer expereience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
