Dear friends,
I would like to start by saying that it is a true honor to be a participant in this wonderful event sponsored by the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
Over the years I have participated in many events supporting research for AIDS and MS but this particular event has a very special meaning to me. Almost five years ago my dear cousin Maria Ines Camargo was diagnosed with lung cancer. While we all face challenges and obstacles in our lives there is little I can think of that compares to the difficulties my cousin Maria Ines has been facing. She has endured a seemingly endless array of radiation treatments and chemotherapies which she faces with courage and a positive attitude. She has been and continues to be an inspiration to me.
In April 2016, I will be participating in the Key to Keys Ride. Over a span of 8 days our group will be riding 1500 miles from the Key Highway in Baltimore, Maryland to Key West, Florida. One might wonder why I will be taking this difficult ride? I am a fortunate man and have been blessed in many ways. I want to give back. I know many people that are battling this awful disease and by challenging myself to this journey I will do whatever I can not only to help find the cure but to connect with cancer survivors, patients and their families in a way that I have not been able to do in the past. Not only will I help to raise much needed funds for this cause but along the way I will stop at select cancer treatment centers to help provide support and to take on the role of an ambassador for the Ulman Cancer Fund, spreading the message along the Eastern coast of the United States. UCF Key to Keys Experience is a journey that brings together a diverse group of individuals to build a community of support for those affected by cancer. Using cycling as a platform, Key to Keys participants come together throughout the journey to share their individual cancer connections and give out as much support to others as they are receiving.
