Update, September 28: Another month of training down--just under another until race day. So far my peak distance is 20 miles and I'm excited for the race. It's been tough training all these months but I feel like it'll all pay off on race day. If you haven't yet, please consider donating in my last month of fundraising, it truly is an awesome cause and any amount will help make a difference. I'll update again before the 17th!

Update, August 23: It's been just under a month since I last posted here, things have been a little crazy as the summer months are coming to a close. The donations just keep coming and I'm motivated more everyday by all your kind words! My training has been getting hard, especially in the unforgiving DC heat (...and humididty), but I'm getting closer to 26.2 every week--the furthest so far is 16 and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also wanted to give a shout out to those who have come on long runs with me so far, thanks Tyler and Jenlain for pulling me along the last few weeks! Please keep spreading the word about this fundraiser--we still have about two months until race day!

Update, July 29: 3rd place! I'm currently in 3rd place of all donations for Team Fight right now. This is just incredible--thank you all so much. Again, I have had to bump the donation goal up and I think this new one might be lofty--but why not keep pushing? My NEW goal is to raise $2,620--$100 per mile of my marathon in October--let's see if we can keep this great response going. Thanks again all!

Update, July 25: Wow, the response so far has been above and beyond anything I could have expected. The generosity of donations is absolutey humbling--I have had to raise my goal twice in 24 hours. So, those of you who have donated something already thank you so much, and if you are reading this in consideration please know you will be in great company for a great cause.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my Team Fight fundraising page. Please join me as I train for the 2015 Baltimore Marathon in helping raise money for young adults battling cancer.

My goal is to raise $2,620 ($100 per mile of the race) for the The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults which has been changing lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship since 1996. Founded by the Ulman family after their son, Doug Ulman, was diagnosed with cancer during his sophomore year at Brown University the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults has worked tirelessly to give young people facing cancer the support and care that they deserve.

Like the founder of the Ulman Fund, I was a Division I soccer player--shocked to be diagnosed with cancer at such a young age. With the unrelenting support of my friends, family, and teammates I became a survivor of testicular cancer this past year. Combined with motivation to keep up my physical fitness I would like to give my support to other young adults facing the same fight I did not too long ago as well as raising awareness for a disease too many face at a young age.

Please donate and thanks for fighting with me!

-Luke Farrell

ABOUT Team Fight FIGHT CLUB 2015

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults and their loved ones as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:

  • Cancer to 5K - a free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
  • Helping Others Fight - a volunteer program that provides basic services such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs and delivery of chemo care bags to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.
  • Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.
  • Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for all your time and effort to help make these programs and our mission possible!
