2015 is my 7th year racing for Team Fight.  As a Team Fight member, I am fundraising for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (www.ulmanfund.org).  I fight in memory of my sister Ami, who passed away from pancreatic cancer at age 42, and for so many others. I start the season with two half ironman races in Maryland and New Hampshire.  Then I race Ironman KONA World Championship in October.  My pain will never compare to what my sister and her family endured during her illness.  Every year, 70,000 people ages 18-40 are diagnosed with cancer, the leading disease killer among young adults. Unfortunately, young adults are often uninsured or underinsured. Young adults going through cancer treatment still have an inadequate amount of support on every front: medical, psychological, and financial. Seven years ago, I joined the UCF board of directors to assist with their efforts.  In this time the charity’s efforts have grown significantly.  They use funds to support many valuable causes, including patient navigator programs, cancer chemo bags, & college scholarships for young adults with cancer.

For over 15 years, as a result of generous contributions made by companies, foundations and individuals, UCF has been able to carry out its mission to provide support programs, education and resources, free of charge, to benefit young adults and their families who are affected by cancer.  They also promote awareness and prevention of cancer.

Any donation, regardless of the amount, is deeply appreciated and 100% tax deductible.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

ABOUT Team Fight FIGHT CLUB 2015

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults and their loved ones as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:

  • Cancer to 5K - a free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
  • Helping Others Fight - a volunteer program that provides basic services such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs and delivery of chemo care bags to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.
  • Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.
  • Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for all your time and effort to help make these programs and our mission possible!
