Hi there! Thanks for visiting my Team Fight fundraising page!

My name is Jean-Luc Duvall, and I am a senior at Elon University in North Carolina, where I am studying Political Science and Chinese. I have been involved with the UCF as a volunteer in the past, and this is my first fundraising endeavor! My mother, Cheryl, has participated in several UCF events in the past, and it is now my time to join her in our efforts to honor my father, John Duvall, by giving my support for a cause that I truly feel is admirable.

This semester, I have begun an initiative on my campus to bring the message and accomplishments of Team Fight and the Ulman Cancer Fund to the student community, and this is just the start of my work. I plan to be participating in TriathELON on October 24th, an event put on by my school's Colleges Against Cancer chapter, as my first race a part of Team Fight. I will also be putting on events around campus to raise awareness (and maybe money!) about the cause.

September 29, 1993, 21 years ago yesterday (at the time of this posting), John was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at the age of 36, a rare, degenerative bone cancer that still, even now, has a low rate of survival. To put things into perspective, my 21st birthday is two weeks from today. I was only 16 months old when he lost his fight to cancer, and my life was forever changed that day. That's my personal stake in this, and I greatly appreciate all the support I receive.

ABOUT Away TEAM - TEAM FIGHT 2014

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship.

With your support, The Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community, including:

  • Cancer to 5K - A free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.

  • Helping Others Fight - A volunteer program that provides basic services – such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs, delivery of chemo care bags – to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.

  • Patient Navigation - A free program - onsite at cancer centers and remote - that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone.  We provide one-on-one personal support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.

  • Scholarships - A financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for making these programs and our mission possible.
